I recently had the chance to work with Beyond AV, testing their Absen 3.9mm LED screen and learning the ins and outs of the Barco S3 processor. It was a great hands-on experience, experimenting with different video chain setups and optimizing playback through ProPresenter.
Driving Content with ProPresenter
Using my Mac, I fed content into the Barco S3 via ProPresenter, ensuring smooth operation and minimal delay. One key focus was optimizing ProPresenter’s output settings to match the screen’s resolution and refresh rate, reducing processing overhead.
Optimizing for Lowest Latency
Latency is always a concern when working with live video, so we tested different routing methods and frame sync settings within the S3. Some key takeaways included:
- Ensuring the correct output format was set in ProPresenter to match the S3’s input resolution and refresh rate.
- Fine-tuning the LED processor settings to reduce frame processing time.
- Testing different video signal paths to find the most efficient route with the least delay.
Learning the Barco S3
Beyond AV also took the time to walk me through the Barco S3, showing me how to manage layering, scaling, and routing to the LED screen. Getting hands-on with this system was invaluable, as the S3 is widely used in live event production for its flexibility and reliability.

Big Thanks to Beyond AV!
A huge thanks to Beyond AV for letting me test their Absen 3.9mm LED screen and take a deep dive into the Barco S3. It was a great opportunity to experiment, learn, and refine my workflow for live event video processing. Looking forward to working with them again!
